Frequently asked questions

Which iPhone models support eSIM?

iPhone XS, XR, and all newer models support eSIM. This includes the entire iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 series. iPhone X and earlier do not support eSIM.

My eSIM shows "No Service" - what should I do?

First, ensure the eSIM is enabled and set as your data line. Turn on Data Roaming. Try toggling Airplane Mode on and off. If the problem persists, restart your phone. Contact us if it still doesn't work.

How do I install my eSIM?

Your activation link appears instantly after purchase - just tap it on your phone. We also email everything, so you can install later if needed. Installation takes less than a minute.

Can I still use my regular SIM card with an eSIM?

Yes. Most eSIM-compatible phones are dual-SIM, meaning you can use your physical SIM for calls and texts from home while using the eSIM for mobile data abroad.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal. Payments are processed securely by Stripe — the price shown is the price you pay.

How do I install an eSIM on Google Pixel?

Tap the activation link in your email and your Pixel will configure everything automatically. Or go to Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Add eSIM and scan the QR code.

Do I need to turn on Data Roaming?

Yes. Even though you're using a local eSIM, your phone considers it roaming. Go to Settings → Cellular → Your eSIM → and enable Data Roaming. This won't incur extra charges.

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM built into your phone. Instead of inserting a plastic card, you simply tap an activation link or scan a QR code to activate your mobile data plan. It works exactly like a regular SIM, just without the physical card.

I accidentally deleted my eSIM - can I reinstall it?

Contact our support team with your order number. We can usually provide a new activation link or QR code. Note that some eSIMs can only be installed once, so a new plan may be required.

Can I buy an eSIM for someone else?

Yes. Complete your purchase and simply forward the email to them, or send them a picture of the QR code. They can install it on their own phone right away.

What are the advantages of using an eSIM for travel?

You get connected before you land - no hunting for SIM shops at the airport. Activation takes seconds with our direct activation link, you keep your home number on your physical SIM, and you avoid expensive roaming charges from your home carrier.

Can I use an eSIM on my iPad or tablet?

Yes, if your iPad or tablet has cellular capability and supports eSIM. WiFi-only models cannot use eSIM. Check your device specifications for "cellular" and "eSIM" support.

Is my data really unlimited?

Yes. Every roamflat plan gives you unlimited data up to 50 Mbps for every day you booked — maps, video, calls, hotspot, all day. Your plan simply ends when your days are over. You choose the speed: 5, 10, 25 or 50 Mbps. The speed you choose is the maximum speed of your Flat. The speed you actually get depends on the local network, where you are and how busy the network is. 25 and 50 Mbps are available when your Flat includes a 5G network.

How do I install an eSIM on Samsung?

Tap the activation link directly from your email and follow the prompts. Alternatively, go to Settings → Connections → SIM Manager → Add eSIM → Scan QR Code. The process takes about one minute.

Do I need to unlock my phone to use an eSIM?

Your phone must be carrier-unlocked to use a third-party eSIM. If you bought your phone outright or finished your contract, it's usually unlocked. Contact your carrier if unsure.

Will I be notified before my plan ends?

Your plan runs until the end of the days you booked. The usage page linked in your email shows a live countdown to the end, and you can book a new plan anytime for your next trip.

My QR code won't scan - what should I do?

Try the activation link instead - just tap it directly from your email. If you must use the QR code, ensure you're scanning from a screen with full brightness. You can also enter the activation details manually.

How do I know if my phone supports eSIM?

Go to Settings and search for "eSIM" or "Add Cellular Plan". If the option exists, your phone supports eSIM. Most iPhones from XS onwards and Samsung Galaxy S20 onwards support eSIM.

When does my Flat start?

Your days start when the eSIM first connects to a network in your destination country — not when you buy, not when you install. Install on Wi-Fi at home, switch the line on when you arrive, and the countdown begins.

What is an eSIM activation link?

An activation link is the fastest way to install your eSIM. Simply tap the link on your phone and your eSIM installs automatically - no camera scanning needed. We also provide a QR code as backup if you prefer.

How is an eSIM different from a physical SIM card?

An eSIM is embedded in your device and activated digitally - just tap a link or scan a code. You don't need to swap cards or visit a store. You can have multiple eSIM plans stored on one phone and switch between them instantly.

How do I activate my eSIM when I arrive?

Switch the roamflat eSIM on in your settings, turn on Data Roaming for it and set it as your data line. Your phone connects to the local network automatically — that first connection starts your Flat.

My eSIM data is slow - how can I improve it?

Try switching between 4G and 5G in your network settings. Move to a location with better signal. Restart your phone to reconnect to a different tower. Peak hours in busy areas may also affect speeds temporarily.

How quickly will I receive my eSIM after ordering?

Instantly. Your activation link and backup QR code appear on screen seconds after purchase. We also send everything by email so you have it saved for later.

Can I use my eSIM for phone calls and SMS?

Our eSIMs provide mobile data only. For calls and texts, use apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime, or Telegram over your eSIM data connection, or keep your home SIM active for traditional calls.

Is an eSIM safe and secure?

Yes. eSIMs use the same encryption and security standards as physical SIMs. They cannot be physically stolen or cloned, and are tied to your specific device.

Can I install my eSIM before traveling?

Yes, and we recommend it. Install the eSIM at home over Wi-Fi using the activation link. Your Flat does not start until the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination.

Which Android phones support eSIM?

Most flagship Android phones from 2019 onwards support eSIM, including Samsung Galaxy S20+, Google Pixel 3+, Huawei P40+, and many Xiaomi, Oppo, and OnePlus models. Check your phone's specifications to confirm.

How do I install an eSIM on iPhone?

Open your email on your iPhone and tap the activation link - your iPhone will handle the rest. Or go to Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code and scan the backup code. Label it with your destination for easy identification.

When should I buy my travel eSIM?

Any time before your trip. Your Flat only starts when the eSIM first connects at your destination, so buying early costs you nothing.

What if the activation link doesn't work?

Use the QR code provided on the confirmation page or in your email as a backup. If scanning isn't possible, you can manually enter the activation code and SM-DP+ address under "Enter Details Manually" in your eSIM settings.

Can I use my eSIM as a hotspot?

Yes. Hotspot is included in every roamflat plan — share your unlimited data with your laptop or travel companions. Just switch on Personal Hotspot in your phone settings.

Can I live stream and post videos with a Flat?

Streamers, YouTubers, TikTokers: every speed is unlimited, so you never ration an upload or cut a live stream short. Live streaming runs on upload, and on mobile networks upload is usually lower than download — to go live, pick one speed above what you would watch with. 5 Mbps: Post stories, reels and TikToks on the go. 10 Mbps: Go live from your phone, upload your clips from the laptop. 25 Mbps (5G): Live streams in Full HD to YouTube, Twitch or TikTok. 50 Mbps (5G): Multi-camera live setups and fast 4K uploads.
